11th April 2010. I recently attended a fantastic workshop conducted by John Joseph about Engaging Learners. John is known as the Brain Man due to the fact that in order to help students learn he shows them how their brains work. He even goes to the extent of taking sheeps brains into his classes for his students to dissect. He works mostly with children and adolescents but I found that his subject matter was quite relevant for adults as well. He believes that if people understand how they learn they wiil become engaged more easily. He also has some great learning models. Our next unit "Plan and Organise group based delivery" goes into learning models and styles so you may be interested in having a look at John's website: www.focuseducation.com.au A lot of the content of the website has to be paid for but there are a couple of good free articles.

Really glad to see that most members of the TAA Class have become members of the Wiki. I am sure we will find it a really useful communication tool as we go along. Don't forget anyone can add to the Wiki. Great to see some new pages popping up too!
One of the tools we will be using is a Virtual Classroom called Elluminate VOffice. The following link will take you to the Elluminate Participant Training page. To view a recorded Elluminate session click on the "Participant orientation" link for a quick 5 minute session on how to participate in an Elluminate classroom.
